Mrs. Katherine Metzler, nee Schuck, was born near Cedar Grove, Franklin County, Ind., Dec. 11, 1878. She was educated at the Guardian Angel School and grew up in this neighborhood. On Thanksgiving Day in 1901, she was married to Valentine Metzler, of near South Gate. In her married life she displayed many virtues and her home became a model to her many friends and neighbors. Their happy home and mutual love was spoken of with regard by their friends. Mrs. Metzler died at their home near Sharptown, Ind., Feb. 5, 1929, at the age of 50 years, 1 month and 24 days. She was a devout Catholic and passed away well prepared with the Holy Sacraments. She leaves to mourn their loss, her husband, seven children, Ralph, Helen, Charles, Della, Mildred, Raymond and Francis, (the youngest child, Wilfred, having died in infancy June 30, 1924); four brothers, John, Charles, George and Edward; two sisters, Miss Mary Schuck and Mrs. B. A. Clark, of Hollywood, Calif., and a host of relatives and friends. A mother dear from us has gone, A voice we loved is stilled, A place is vacant in our home, Which never can be filled. God in his wisdom has recalled, The boon his love had given, And though the body slumbers here, The soul is safe in Heaven. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. C. A. Cleaver at the Guardian Angel Church, Feb. 8, 1929. Interment in the church cemetery.
