James (Bodie) Davis, 37, of Annapolis, Md., formerly of Provincetown, died Oct. 9. Mr. Davis was born in Washington, D.C., on April 20, 1965. He lived a good portion of his life in Provincetown, where he was a gifted artist and an environmental activist. He resided in Annapolis, Md., during the last six months of his life. Mr. Davis served on the local zoning board and was the founder of the town's cooperative organic gardens, a project that endured for several years. He was tireless in his defense of the environment and active at Town Meeting. His artistic talents and love of the environment can best be summed up by a passage he wrote on the Kiley Court Art Gallery website where his paintings were exhibited. He said, 'My current work is loose. I spend hours in the marsh areas of Provincetown. The dark colors I use allow the viewer their own interpretation of the world they enter through my paintings. I do this by not defining everything. I don't like my paintings to tower over people, instead to invite them in.'He is survived by his mother, Dolores Steenland; his father, James Birch Duvall Jr.; his step-father, Peter Steenland; his stepmother, Sharon Duvall; his sister, Gina White; his brother, Joe Davis; his stepbrother, Peter Steenland III; his aunts, Diane Stone and Catherine Barbour; his cousins, Frank Stone, Steve Stone, Kellie Barbour and Trista Barbour; and numerous other cousins and relatives. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor at the Hospice of the Chesapeake in Millersville, Maryland.

This Memorial was created in Memory of Jim Davis a friend of mine whom I met in Provincetown.
Gravesite Details
Bodie chose to be cremated, he was buried along with the ashes of his dog named appropriately "De-O-ge". He wanted his ashes to be planted with a Crape Myrtle.
