Vicki Sue Whiteley Hobbs, 34, died in the early morning hours of Thursday, Oct.
27, 2005 at Seton Hospital in Austin after a long battle with breast cancer.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 29, 2005 at the Phillips and Luckey
Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Denman and Rev. Luther Shelander officiating.
Internment followed at Minerva Cemetery. Mrs. Hobbs was born Aug. 21, 1971 in
Cameron to Michael Scott Whiteley and Alice M. (Denman) Whiteley. She graduated
from Rockdale High School in 1989, and then attended Tarleton State University
in Stephenville. She was employed by the Rockdale Federal Credit Union for 10
years and was bookkeeper for Whiteley Farm Supply. She married Billy J. Hobbs on
Sept. 17, 1994 at Mount Zion Baptist Church near Minerva. They were blessed with
a daughter, M'lynn, who was the light of her life. She was a member of Mount
Zion Baptist Church where she served even at a young age as a Sunday School
teacher. She worked tirelessly on Vacation Bible School and church activities.
She was always available whenever a need arose because her church and it's
mission meant so much to her. She was preceded in death by her older sister,
Sandra Jeannette Whiteley; paternal grandfather, Otto Whiteley; maternal
grandparents, Ira and Bertha Denman. She is survived by her husband of 11 years,
Billy J. Hobbs; daughter, M'lynn Hobbs; parents, Alice and Scott Whiteley;
grandmother, Emma Lorenz Whiteley, all of the Minerva Community; brother,
Jeffrey Scott Whiteley and wife Monica, of Cameron; mother-in-law and
father-in-law, Vickie and Robert vonGonten of Rockdale; sister-in-law, Rylee
Wiseniske of College Station; grandmother-in-law, Joyce Stewart of Rockdale;
grandfather-in-law, Hubert "Chick" Youngblood of Rockdale and step
sister-in-law, Kim Burlin of Rockdale; host of uncles, aunts, cousins and
friends who loved her dearly. Pallbearers were James Denman, Jesse Shelander,
Stephen Baldwin, Larry Whiteley, Preston Darwin and Michael Bose Robinson.
