Mildred Marie Asleson passed away January 21, 2010 at her home. She was the daughter of the late Erwin and Alma (Redalen) Thorson. She was born September 3, 1917 near Fountain, Minnesota. She married Ilot C. Asleson on January 30, 1946. Mr. Asleson passed away June 19, 1985.

Mrs. Asleson attended Rice Creek School, grades one through eight and graduated from Chatfield High School in 1936, and from the Chatfield Normal Training Department in 1937. She also attended Superior State Teachers College in Superior, Wisconsin, and Winona State Teachers College in Winona, Minnesota. She taught eight years prior to her marriage in rural Fillmore County and later did substitute teaching in the Chatfield school system for thirteen years, she then became care taker of her parents in her home.

She was a lifetime member of Root Prairie Lutheran Church, serving as Superintendent of Sunday School, taught classes, was a member of WELCA, serving as President and other offices in the Rebecca Circle. She also taught Release Time at the Chatfield Lutheran Church, when Root Prairie and Chatfield Lutheran were a parish. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. In August, 1986 Mrs. Asleson established the Ilot Asleson, Erwin Thorson Family Fund to be used for watering flowers and urns at the Root Prairie Cemetery. She enjoyed bus trips mostly to Branson, MO. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a brother.

Funeral Services will be 1 p.m. Monday, January 25, 2010 at Root Prairie Lutheran Church in rural Fountain, Minnesota. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. Burial will be in the Root Prairie Lutheran Cemetery.
