Beatrice I. Hardesty, 79, died Monday. Her funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church. Visitation will be at Bruington-Jenkins-Sturgeon Funeral Home from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and after 9 a.m. Thursday.

Beatrice Irene Allen Hardesty, 79, of Payneville, died Monday, Nov. 11, 2002, at Baptist Hospital East in Louisville. A native of Meade County, she was a member of St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church and was a homemaker and an avid gardener. She was preceded in death by three daughters, Jean Marie Hardesty, Margaret Ann Hardesty and Mary Ruth Hardesty; a son, James Willis Hardesty; her parents, Joseph Albert Allen and Charity Elva Paris; two brothers, Joseph Allen and Rufus Allen; two half brothers, Jesse Allen and Everette Allen; four half sisters, Catherine Thomas, Velma Kessinger, Sherry Abledinger and Rita Kessinger; a stepsister, Bessie Kendall; and a great-granddaughter. Survivors include her husband, Michael William Hardesty; three sons, Thomas Hardesty of Payneville, Michael R. Hardesty of Guston and Paul L. Hardesty of Arlington, Va.; four daughters, Mary Chism of Harrodsburg, Phyllis Kendall of Brandenburg, Georgia Gordon of Elizabethtown and Martha Lambert of Brandenburg; five half brothers, Louis Allen of Louisville, Raymond Allen and Chester Allen, both of West Point, Darold Allen of Brandenburg and Jimmy Allen of Carrollton; four half sisters, Nellie Warren, Wanda Branson and Florene Mahoney, all of Louisville, and Mary Cain of Harned; 13 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren. The funeral is 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Payneville with Father Bob Abel officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Magdalen Cemetery. Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and continues at 9 a.m. Thursday at Bruington-Jenkins-Sturgeon Funeral Home in Brandenburg with a prayer service at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Active pallbearers were Keith Hardesty, Travis Hardesty, Steve Goins, Jordan Dowell, Donnie Allen and Greg Allen. Honorary pallbearers were Brandon Thompson, Darren Goins, Tyler Lambert and Jeremy Hardesty.
