The sad news of the death of Mr. C.D. Yancey of Eliasville reached Graham Friday, 30 May. He had been in bad health. An unusually large crowd was present at the funeral in Eliasville, Sunday, conducted by Brother Wilson, pastor of the Eliasville Baptist church.

Survived: his wife, eight children, 25 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by one son and three grandchildren.

Champion Decatur Yancey was born near the town of Lafayette, Chambers County, Alabama, 23 November 1848, and moved with his parents, when nine years old, to Louisiana. He was converted and joined the Baptist church at the Old Gray school house in Claiborne Parish, Louisiana when he was 15 years of age.

Uncle Dock Yancey, as he was familiarly known by a large circle of friends, always looked on the bright side of life. He brought happiness and sunshine to all with whom he came in contact. His host of friends regret to learn of his death.
