In loving memory of Karl Eldon "Duff" Swain who died, at the age of 97, Jan. 12, 2010 at his home in Vernal Utah.

He was born the sixth son of Enoch Swain and Florence Hatch Swain on April 9, 1912. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings.

Duff married Avvon Elizabeth Robinson on his birthday, April 9, 1934. They had two girls; Kay Yeager, presently residing in Vernal and Sally and Leonard Pretl living in Huntington Beach, Calif. His wife died New Years Day 1975. He is survived by five grandsons, 10 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

He lived in Vernal all his life and was known as a local building contractor. He loved the great outdoors hunting, fishing, and trapshooting, and was elected president of the Vernal Gun Club in 1955.

He also had a private pilot's license, golfed occasionally and was never without a good Chesapeake hunting dog.

Burial was in the Vernal Memorial Park, Saturday, Jan. 16 under the direction of the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary.
