Robert L. Adriansen, 83, of Newberry, Michigan, died Saturday afternoon April 7, 2007 at his residence surrounded by his loving family and the care of L.M.A.S. Hospice.

Born October 19, 1923 in Ironwood, son of the late Leo Adriansen and Irma (Erickson) Adriansen, Bob was a 1941 graduate of Luther L. Wright High School. Shortly after, he enlisted in the United States Army Air Force and upon his completion of training at Randolph Field, TX, he was commissioned to First Lieutenant and served as a pilot and flight instructor. Following his honorable discharge on July 30, 1946, he attended Michigan State University in East Lansing receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry.

On May 10, 1950, Bob married the former Audrey Sword in Duluth, MN. His 35 year career with Kimberley-Clark and Champion International Corporations brought him to Marenisco and Iron River before moving to Newberry in 1968.

Bob Adriansen was a member of the B.P.O.E. Elks #1705, American Legion Post #74 and Newberry Country Club. Bob loved to fish and hunt and in his golfing days had four holes in one. His skills in woodworking have produced many fine pieces of furniture. He also enjoyed playing cards, horseshoes, crossword and jigsaw puzzles and tending to his raspberry bushes.

Upon his retirement in 1986, he and his wife spent the winters in Gulf Shores, AL, Charlotte Harbor, FL and Largo, FL where he was a member of Palm Hills Country Club.

Besides his parents, Bob is preceded in death by his son Michael Adriansen; siblings William Adriansen, Elaine Nechak and Donald Adriansen.

Survivors included his loving wife Audrey Adriansen of Newberry; children James (Linda) of Merritt Island, FL, Kathy (Craig) Bock of Shelby Township, Bobbi (Dan) Mattson of Vero Beach, FL and Lori (Chris) Canavati of Alexandria, MN; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Bob was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather who loved his family very much and will be dearly missed.
