The daughter of the late Fortunato and Josephine Righi Bruschi, she was born January 10, 1930, in San Marino, Italy.
In a family statement, it was said, "Maria was a loving, devoted and caring wife and mother who always had a shoulder for you to cry on, arms to hold and comfort you, a smile to warm your heart and a heart that carried much love. She will be dearly missed."
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Clyde T. Prastaro, at home; two daughters, Valerie Caruso of Monticello and Maria Fenin and her husband, Richard, of Spring Hill, Fla.; three sons, Rinaldo Prastaro and his wife, Margaret, of Oneonta, Clyde Prastaro of Livingston Manor, and Vincent Prastaro and his wife, Nancy, of Lake Worth, Fla.; a sister, Emilia Zorn of Frieze, Italy; two brothers, Dominic and Henry Bruschi, both of Republic of San Marino, Italy; five grandsons, Timothy Maher of Bellmore, Robert Caruso of White Plains, Joseph Caruso of Monticello, Anthony and Kevin Prastaro, both of Oneonta, and Vincent Prastaro Jr. of Lake Worth, Fla.; four granddaughters, Angela Jakaitis and her husband, Robert, of Bridgeville, Noel Prastaro of Missouri, Katherine Prastaro of Lake Worth, Fla., and Nicole Andrews of Spring Hill, Fla.; and two great-granddaughters, Shelby Jakaitis and Kimber Lee Prastaro; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Ramsay's Funeral Home, 55 St. John St., Monticello, on Saturday from 7-9 p.m. and on Sunday, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday at 10 a.m. in St. Peter's R.C. Church, Monticello, with the Rev. John Lynch officiating.
Burial will be made in the Glen Wild Cemetery in Glen Wild.
