Sophie Deshais was born Sophie Robillard on 7 Nov., 1848 at Ste-Melanie, Joliette county, Quebec. She was a daughter of Jerome Robillard (my great-great-grandfather) and his first wife, Sophie Moussin dit Lajoie.
Sophie married Joseph Deshais (son of Joseph Deshais and Josephte Dauphinet) on 9 Nov., 1868 at the parish church in Ste-Melanie, Joliette Co., Quebec.
Sophie's father had 23 children by two wives.

Was Resident of Vulcan for More Than 40 Years
Tuesday morning, Mrs. Sophia Deshais, 74, of Central Vulcan passed away after a short illness from Pneumonia. She had lived here about 40 years & was a widow survived by 2 daughters, Mrs. Tefoe & Mrs. Bertoli, 3 sons, Caspar, Alfred & Tanered. (Saturday, March 3, 1923, The Current newspaper, Norway, Dickinson, Michigan.)
