Bay City: Funeral services were conducted March 4 [1951] at 1:30 PM in the Methodist church at Bay City for Mrs. Emma Finlayson, with Rev. W. J. Douglas officiating.
Mrs. Finlayson passed away in a nursing home in Portland on March 1, 1951 at the age of 84 years, four months and eight days. She was born in Ohio October 20, 1866, coming with her family to Bay City in 1881. The family home still stands just north of Elliott's store.
She joined the Presbyterian church when a small girl and was always active in the church and Guild while it was located in Bay City. Later, when the community Methodist church opened she took an active part in the church, Sunday School and Ladies Aid Society as long as her health permitted. She became a member of Unity Rebekah lodge No. 51 in May 1910 and was always a very active member; she also served in the various offices of the lodge.
She leaves a daughter, Mrs. Grace Radar of Portland; a son, Leo Wilson of Lebanon; a stepdaughter, Miss Jennie Finlayson of Tillamook; five grandchildren, Gertrude Ross of Klamath Falls, Glen and Lawrence Wilson of Lebanon, Mrs. Duane Cavin of Idaho, and Richard Lennin of Portland; and fourteen great-grandchildren.
The members of Unity Rebekah lodge conducted memorial services around the casket.
Older members of Pacific Lodge No. 105 IOOF acting as pallbearers, were Homer Flagg, John Mather, Joseph Provost, William Jolly, Elgin Hess and Ben Scheelan. Mrs. George Tawe and Mrs. Harold Williams sang "the Old Rugged Cross" and "God Be with You." Mrs. J. A. Barr was pianist.
Vault interment was made in the Bay City cemetery with arrangements entrusted to Mikeworth's Peninsula Funeral Home of Portland.
