Frank V. Scibelli, 80, of 82 Edgeland St., died Saturday at Baystate Medical Center. He was an investigator for the state Registration Division for 15 years, retiring in 1985. Previously, he was the manager of the former Empire Cafe and worked at the former Asinof Clothing Co. of Chicopee. Born in Springfield, he was a lifelong resident and attended the former Central High School. He served in the Army in World War II and saw action in Guadalcanal. He received the Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with 1 Bronze Service Star. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and a member of its retreat league. He was a longtime member of the YMCA Valley Athletic Club and a former member of the Springfield Tennis Club. His wife, the former Sophie Waleszczyk, died in 1989. He leaves a son, Salvatore F. of Springfield; a daughter, Susan S. Soucie of Enfield, Conn.; two brothers, Joseph and Salvatore, both of Springfield; and a grandson. The funeral will be Wednesday morning at Forastiere Smith Funeral Home of East Longmeadow and in the church, with burial in St. Michael's Cemetery. Calling hours are Tuesday afternoon and evening.
