Harry Robert Abbott, 78, formerly of Main Street, Girard, died Tuesday, Sept. 29, 1998, at Manchester Presbyterian Lodge in Fairview.

He was born in Macon, Ga., Sept. 8, 1920, son of the late Harry and May Kelly Abbott.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. He worked as a sales manager for General Electric in Erie for 30 years. He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Fairview.

He was preceded in death by his his wife, Mary McConnell Abbott, in 1986.

He is survived by eight sons, John Abbott and his wife, Carol, of Milford, Del., Mark Abbott and his wife, Kathy, of Dothan, Ala., David Abbott and his wife, Jill, of Fairview, Paul Abbott and his wife, Barb, of Longmont, Colo., Larry Abbott and his wife, Donna, Kailua, Hawaii,
Brian Abbott and his wife, Tracey, of Export, James Abbott of Jamaica Plain, Mass., and Ray Abbott and his wife, Beth, of Limerick; three daughters, Barb Kausteklis and her husband, Pete, of Monrovia, Calif., Jane Schueler and her husband, Al, of Fairfield, Ohio, and Laura Abbott of Kingsburg, Calif.; 16 grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call at the Robert A. Jaworowicz Funeral Home, 309 E. Main St., Girard, Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 7100 W. Ridge Road, Fairview, Saturday at 11:30 a.m.

Burial will be at Holy Rood Cemetery in Westbury, N.Y.
