Mrs. Peggy Joyce Altman, 68, died Wednesday morning (December 7, 2011) at her residence after an extended illness.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Waycross. She was a loving mother and grandmother who retired from Wal-Mart.
She is the daughter of the late John H. Griffis and Inez Leggett Griffis. She is preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Altman; one son, Bobby Altman; one daughter, Denise King; one brother, J. H. Griffis; one sister, Betty Tucker; and one grandson, Ryan Dodd.
Survivors include three children, Kenny Altman (wife Sandy) of Waycross, Lisa Dodd (husband Gary) of Hinesville, and Christina Copeland (husband John) of Waycross; grandchildren, Allison Sweat (Dusty) of Athens, Jacob Altman (Jamie) of Woodstock, B. J. Altman of Waycross, Michael Altman (Tiffany) of Waycross, Scott King of Athens, Tiffany Ebersole (Matthew) of Waycross, Kaylee Lang of Waycross, Jonathan Copeland of Waycross, Brent Dodd (Sarah), Jason Dodd (Tiffany) and Ashley Dodd all of Hinesville; four great grandchildren; one daughter-in-law, Laura Altman of Waycross; one son-in-law, Everett King of Waycross; two brothers, Jimmy Griffis of California and Danny Griffis of North Carolina; one brother-in-law, Bo Tucker of Waycross; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends 6 until 8 p.m. Friday at Music Funeral Home.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday (December 10, 2011) at Kettle Creek Cemetery.
