1890 Enrollment of Wabash County Civil War Soldiers shows that he had typhoid fever resulting in lung and throat trouble which was contracted during service. He attended the 47th's Reunion in North Manchester, IN in 1905.
Obituary:
William H. Baker, 85, aged North Manchester man, died at his home on Second street in that city Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock following a heart attack. He was a brother of the late Charles Baker of Wabash.
Funeral services will be held from the home in Manchester Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Burial will be made at North Manchester.
Mr. Baker was born on Fisher Creek, near Logansport, July 5, 1840. He was a Civil war veteran having served with Company I, 47th Indiana infantry. As long as his health permitted, Mr. Baker followed the blacksmith trade.
Word of his death was received here by Mrs. C. H. Baker and Hoyte Summerland, sheriff. Both will attend the funeral.
