Ms. Bernice (Johnston) Brown of Clarksville, Arkansas, died Thrusday, January 7, 2010. Ms. Brown was 96 years, 10 months, and 3 days old. She was a member of the 1st Baptist Chruch of Clarksville; a member of Crepe Myrtle Garden Club and the Clarksville County Club, in Clarksville, Arkansas. She was a former manager of the Head Start Program at Arvac.

Ms. Brown was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband: Joe Johnson.
She is survived by a son: Joe Johnson Jr., of Clarksville, Arkansas; a step-daughter: Caroline Linder, of West Linn, Oregon; 5 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and many good friends.

Funeral service was held on Monday, January 11, 2010, at the East Mount Zion Baptist Church. Ms. Brown was laid to rest at Mount Airy Cemetery in Ludwig, Arkansas.
Pallbearers were: Pallbearers will be Josh and Bryce Johnston, David King, Danny and Louie Leeds and Hank Sparks.

CLARKSVILLE — BERNICE Johnston Brown, 96, of Clarksville died Thursday, Jan. 7, 2010, in Johnson Regional Medical Center.
Born March 4, 1913, at Clarksville, she was the daughter of the late William Newton and Lula Harris King, and the widow of Joe B. Johnston and James Don Brown. She was an avid golfer and member of Clarksville Country Club, Crepe Myrtle Garden Club and First Baptist Church. She was former employed by ARVAC as manager of the Head Start program. She was preceded in death by a son, William King Johnston.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Joe Johnston Jr. and Judy of Clarksville; a daughter-in-law, Linda Walton Johnston of Valrico, Fla.; a stepdaughter, Caroline Linder and husband, Mike, of West Linn, Ore.; grandchildren, Josh Johnston and wife, Michelle, of Clarksville, Jill Bendtsen and husband, Jay, of Cheland, Wash., Susan Moss and husband, Chris, of Jasper, Ga., Shelley Fritz and husband, Rob, of Valrico, Fla., and William Bryce Johnton and wife, Jennifer, of Tampa, Fla.; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at East Mount Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Robbie Jackson. Burial will be in Mount Airy Cemetery at Ludwig under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
