Miss Susan M. Speckhals, born March 12, 1887 at Berger, died Sunday, May 16, at the Frene Valley Nursing Home, Hermann. She had been at the home for 40 days. She was 78 years old. Susan Mary Speckhals, who died from a heart condition, worked in St. Louis for many years. She spent the past 34 years with her brother, Frank Speckhals in Berger keeping house for him. She was a member of the St. Paul Catholic Church, Berger, and the St. Paul Alter Society. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ignatz Speckhals (nee Mary Meyer). Her parents preceded her in death, as did three brothers and two sisters. She is survived by two brothers, Frank Speckhals, Berger, Albert Speckhals, Washington; a sister, Mrs. Marie Gerritsen, Chamois, MO. Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 19, at St. Paul Catholic Church, Berger, with Father Alexis Preumer officiating. Burial was in the St. Paul Catholic Church Cemetery, Berger.
