In the absence of an eye witness to the tragedy enacted early Sunday morning at 1225 North Flores street, when C. A. R. Campbell, Jr., a musician, and his pretty wife of three months met death, it may never be known to a certainty which fired the two shots that ended their lives. While there were a number of people on the scene within a few minutes after the two reports of the pistol aroused the neighborhood, no one has come forward who actually saw the shots fired.
As to the position of the two bodies, the wounds and the finding of the revolver with which they were inflicted, the witnesses who rushed to the apartment immediately after the shots were heard general agree. Mrs. Campbell, they say, was still alive, but died without being able to speak. It is expected that at the inquest, to be held this afternoon before Justice Umscheld, a number of witnesses will be examined and farther details of the trouble which resulted in the double killing will be brought to light.
The funeral of Mr. Campbell will be held this afternoon at 4 o'clock from the home of his parents on Nueva street, and interment will be made in the Odd Fellows' cemetery, under the auspices of that order, of which he was a member. The funeral of his wife will be held a half hour later from the home of her mother, 1220 North Flores street, and interment will be made in City Cemetery No. 2.
