Arley Lafayette Burns, 77, of Vinita, Okla., died July 9, 1987, in the Osteopathic Hospital in Tulsa. He was born April 10, 1910, in Alabam, Ark., the son of Ava and Ruth Carlock Burns. He was a resident of Vinita since 1931 and a member of the Carpenter's Union No. 943, Tulsa, for 45 years. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy, and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include his widow, Elva Katherine (Cox) Burns of the home; four daughters, Fern Schwartz of Phoenix, Ariz., Melba Jean Spain and Lola Mae Kinkade, both of Tulsa, and Carolyn Louise Womack of Pryor, Okla.; four brothers, Adryan Burns and Glenn Burns, both of Arkansas City, Kan., Wallace Burns of Huntsville, and Harvey Burns of Boulder, Colo.; one sister, Geneva Ervin of Broken Arrow; a nephew, Lyndon Giles of Vinita, Okla.; 19 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Services were Monday, July 13, in the Burckhalter Funeral Chapel. Burial was in the Carlock Cemetery near Huntsville under the direction of Burckhalter Funeral Home of Vinita.
