PRENTISVALE — Helen M. Cousins, 89, formerly of Prentisvale, died Saturday (May 28, 2005) at Lake View Senior Care Center. Smethport. Born Jan. 6, 1916, in Bradford, she was a daughter of Herbert A. and Ella M. Smith Spencer. On Feb. 23, 1933, in Allegany, N.Y., she married Sylvis S. "Sid" Cousins, who died July 21, 2000. Mrs. Cousins attended schools in Duke Center and Bradford, and was a lifelong resident of the Duke Center area. She was employed at the Duke Center Post Office for several years, and later, along with her husband, owned and operated the Duke Center Corner Store. She was an active member of the Free Methodist Church of Duke Center, where she was a Sunday school teacher, played the organ and was a member of the Women's Missionary Society. She enjoyed baking, working with flowers and playing the organ. Surviving are a son, Ronald L. (Darlene) Cousins of Prentisvale; five grandchildren, Pamela (Jouda) Hammood, Michelle "Mike" (Abdelitif) Cousins, Heath (Brandi) Cousins, Keith (Valerie) Cousins and Stephen (Sonya) Cousins; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Charles, Herbert, Howard, Garner and Donald Spencer; and a sister, Doris Greer. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Frame Funeral Home, Eldred, and on Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m., at which time funeral services will he held with the Rev. Glenn Hamilton and the Rev. Garry Hoch, co-officiating. Burial will follow in Duke Center Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Lighthouse Community Free Methodist Church.
