NEW CARLISLE - Christina M Edgar, 85, formerly of South Bend and LeRoy, KS, passed away on Monday, Nov 17th, in Hamilton Grove. She is survived by husband, Alexander; children, Joan Elghettey of Bloomsbury, NJ, Charles William Edgar of Lawrenceville, NJ, and Alexander Edgar of Mishawaka; two sisters, Marcella Nicoletti of Kent, WA, and Velma Mahaffey of Raytown, MO; and a brother, Eugene Lang of LeRoy, KS. There will be no visitation as per Christina's wishes. Hahn Funeral Home, Mishawaka, is handling arrangements.

NEW CARLISLE - Christina M Edgar, 85, formerly of South Bend and LeRoy, Kansas, passed away in the early morning hours of Monday, November 17, 2008, in Hamilton Grove, New Carlisle, IN.

NEW CARLISLE- Alexander Laird Edgar, 88, formerly of South Bend and LeRoy, Kansas, passed away in the morning hours of Tuesday, November 18, 2008, in Hamilton Grove, New Carlisle, IN.

Christina was born on July 21, 1923, in Waukomis, OK, as the daughter of John and Anna (Litschke) Lang. She was preceded in death by her parents and by a sister, Loretta Yoho. Alex was born on January 30, 1920, in New York, NY, as the son of Charles and Mary (Laird) Edgar. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Charles and John, and by his wife Christina, just by 33 hours. On November 16, 1943, in Topeka, KS, Alex and Christina were married. Surviving are their children, Joan (Mo) Elghettey of Bloomsbury, NJ, Charles William (Joanna) Edgar of Lawrenceville, NJ, and Alexander (Lori) Edgar of Mishawaka; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and Christina's sisters, Marcella (Phil) Nicoletti of Kent, WA, and Velma (Clarence) Mahaffey of Raytown, MO; and her brother, Eugene (Isabel) Lang of LeRoy, KS.
Christina and Alex were co-owners and operators of the Washington Golf Club, Washington, NJ. She was a member of Eastern Star in Washington, NJ. He was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps during WW II. Alex and Christina loved to travel; Alex was an avid woodcarver. They moved to Michiana in October 1997, coming from LeRoy, Kansas.

There will be no visitation per Alex's and Christina's wishes. Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka, is handling the arrangements. Donations may be made in memory of Alex and Christina to The Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637.
