Clifford was the son of Thomas Earl Deppe and Hazel Cliff Leary.
On 29 Sep 1945 he married Virginia Mae Putney. Clifford and Virginia had the following children: Carol Virginia, Alan Clifford, and Scott B.
Clifford and Virginia divorced. And Clifford subsequently married Helen Wenstrom Collopy on Sept. 22, 1973, in Galesburg.
Both Virginia and Helen survived Clifford along with Clifford's three children and his step-children.
Also noted as surviving are two brothers, Ernest and Leroy, one sister, Gladys Chase, and five grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and five stepgreat-grandchildren.
One brother and one sister preceded Clifford in death.
Clifford's death is noted as having occured at the Galesburg Cottage Hospital. Clifford's obit reports that he worked as a car repairman and mechanic for Burlington Northern Railroad for 32 years, and that he retired in 1975. His obit notes that he also farmed in the North Henderson area.
Clifford was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Galesburg, and a member of Sears Retirees Club.
Only a graveside memorial service was held at Wataga Cemetery in Wataga with the Rev. Tom Larsen officiating.
