Finchum, James "Fred" Fredrick – age 87 of Knoxville went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, May 8, 2008. He was a World War II Army veteran. He retired from Allright Parking. He was a faithful member and Deacon of Timothy Street Baptist Church for 51 years where he taught the Adult Men's Sunday School class.

Preceded in death by parents, John and Dorcas Finchum; daughter, Linda Kay Finchum; and eight brothers and sisters.

Survived by his faithful, loving wife of 54 years, Nona Capps Finchum; sons, James and Linda Finchum, Kenneth Finchum, and Mark and Karen Finchum; daughters, Kathy and Eddie Blankenship, Lisa and Mike Oglesby, Sandy and Danny Romines, Jackie and Tim Mitchell, and Susan and Rick Bright; and sister, Louise Pack.

He was blessed with 19 grandchildren including two special granddaughters, Becca and Kayla, who lived with him; 5 great grandchildren, all of whom he cherished and adored.

Funeral services will be at 7:00 PM Monday, May 12, 2008, in the chapel at Bridges Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Haggard and Rev. Gibbs Hammond officiating.

Family and friends will meet at 12:15 PM Tuesday at Bridges Funeral Home and proceed to Greenwood Cemetery for a 1:00 PM interment. Full military honors will be provided by Volunteer State Veterans Honor Guard. Grandsons and sons-in-law will be pallbearers.

Memorials may be made to the Timothy Street Baptist Church Building Fund, 206 Timothy Street, Knoxville, TN 37914. The family will receive friends 5:00-7:00 PM Monday at Bridges Funeral Home, 5430 Rutledge Pike, 523-4999.
