Hazel Jeanette was born in Osceola, Hill County, Texas, to the late John M. and Mary E. Connally Patterson. Her mother's first cousin was U.S. Senator Tom Connally of Marlin. She was reared and educated in Hillsboro, and had been a resident of the Waco area since 1943. She married Odell Bailey in 1940. Hazel was in the personnel business locally for 17 years and was also involved with nutrition for many years. She had been a member of Beta Sigma Phi, Business and Professional Women, and Rosson Study Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband, in March, 2002; her son-in-law, Peeler Williams, III; brothers, Charlie, Earl, Paul, Forest, and Donald Patterson; and sisters, Gladys Patterson, Bernice Patterson, and Evelyn Dumas.
Survivors include her daughter, Pamela Williams; a sister-in-law, Jerry Patterson; numerous nieces and nephews; a host of friends; and her grand dog, Emperor.
