The nephew of James Olmsted, he came to Boston in 1632 on the LION, was an orignal proprietor in Hatford "by courtesy of the town" in 1639. He married Elizabeth (Pardee) Gregory, widow of Thomas Gregory. He removed from Hartford to Saybrook and then to Norwich. He served as a surgeon in King Philip's War and was the first physician of Norwich.
