Grandma Lacey's Departure.
Susan Mercer (sic) was born in Barnsville (sic), Ohio, on July 4, 1827 (sic) and died at her residence in Chester, Nebraska, Friday, night, January 20, 1911 aged eighty-three years six months sixteen days. She was married on September 1, 1884 (sic) to Mr. William Franklin Lacey at Barnsville (sic), O., where they resided for a few years, moving to Chester, Nebr., about 1893. Their union was blest with nine children, three boys and six girls. Eight of these children are now living, viz: Mrs. C.C. Ball, Chester; Mrs. Jennie Chick, Chester; Mrs. Mellie Swafford, New Mexico; Mrs. Carrie Higgason, Stamford, Neb.; Mrs. Emma Hartman, Ottumwa, Iowa; Mrs. Lois Drullinger, Fairview, Okla.; Frank Lacey, Hoxie, Kansas and A.L. Lacey, Deshler, Nebr. These, together with forty-nine grand-children and thirty-seven great-grand children survive her. Her beloved husband died February 16, 1898. Early in life she united with the Methodist Episcopal church (sic) and was in fellowship with the same in Chester at the time of her death. She was also a member of the Women's Relief Corps.
Death came peacefully to her after a long life, and before the end came she expressed to her pastor her full trust in a loving heavenly Father. Funeral services were held at the house and in the Methodist church (sic) by Rev. J. Henry Stitt on Sunday afternoon last, a large congregation being in attendance. The body was laid to rest in the Chester cemetery (sic).

CHESTER GOSSIP.
Mrs. Susan Lacey died at her home in Chester, Friday night, at the age of 86 (sic) years, 6 months and 17 days. Mr. and Mrs. Lacey came here in 1883. They were the parents of nine children, eight of whom are still living. Mr. Lacey passed away several years ago. Mrs. Lacey leaves besides her children, forty-nine grand-children and thirty-seven great grand-children.
