Lemuel was the son of Robert McKinley and Sarah McKee of Tilden, Randolph County, Illinois.

Lemuel married Catherine Louella Stevenson on 24 Dec 1901 in the First Methodist Church, Tilden, Randolph County, IL. Lemuel and Catherine had the following children: William Robert, Lemuel Dean, Catherine Agnes, William Wayne, and Leland C. N.

Lemuel owned a Chevrolet dealership for 54 years in Belleville. He sat on the board or was a member of many local organizations.

He was also a veternarian and exhibited his horses in various shows in the midwest, includng Illinois State Fair at Springfield, Missouri State Fair at Sedalia and the American royal Horse Show at Kansas City, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his wife and daughter Catherine and son William Robert. Survivors included his three remaining sons: Lemuel, Wiliam, and Leland. In addition, he is survived by grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were at Union United Methodist church with burial in Green Mount Protestant Cemetery.
