Nymphas Anison Burroughs born June 1, 1829 in Davie County, North Carolina to Henry W. Burroughs and Nancy Charlotte Floyd. He is on the 1850 census in Dyer County Tennessee with parents and siblings. In 1860 , He is on the census in Van Buren County Arkansas, living in Cadron Township. He has married between the 1850 and 1860 census. Her first name is Mary, but have been unable to find her maiden name. In 1858, Nymphas applied for a liquor license in Van Buren County, Arkansas. 1860-1870-1880-on the census for Van Buren County Arkansas. In November, 1866, he married Sarah Julia Ann Goff,recorded at the courthouse, Van Buren County, Arkansas,Julia was born in Pulaski County ,to William Wilson Goff and Nancy Brannon Goff.Nymphas served in the Civil War from 1862-1865. He ist joined at Springfield, Arkansas and before the war was over he was serving with Witt's Calvary . He was captured at Port Hudson and released to rejoin again. He died in 1889 in the Little Rock Insane Hospital, after suffering from a mental breakdown. He was the father of 14 children, 2 sets of twins. 2 children by 1st wife and 12 children by second wife. Nymphas A. Burroughs(NIMP BURRIS) # number is 11217 from the confederate war. His widow Julia A. Burris applied in 1908 and recieved a pension until her death 1924.
