Sarah Catherine Miller was the second of twelve known children of Charles B. Miller (1809-1895) and Mary Magdalena Bruner Miller (1809-1877), who married 23 Apr 1831 at Salem, Stokes (now Forsyth) County, North Carolina.

Sarah married Christian Alexander Bevel (1829-1897) on 29 Dec 1853 at Salem, Forsyth County, North Carolina. Sarah and Christian were the parents of eleven known children, namely:

1. Mary Serena Bevel Kemp (1854-1917)
2. Charles Armsworthy Bevel (1857-1861)
3. Martha Elizabeth Bevel Zollner (1859-1936)
4. Agnes Adelia Bevel (1861-1939)
5. John Ambrose Bevel (1864-c1880/1900)
6. Tempy Jane Bevel (1866-a1880)
7. Allen Alva Bevel (1869-1937)
8. Ellen Magdalene Bevel (1871-a1880)
