Darrell Victor Kallio, 68, or Arvada, CO., formerly of Cook, MN, died November 29th of sudden heart failure. He was born, April 22, 1941, in Balkan Township, Minnesota, a son of Tony and Ellen (Paavola) Kallio.

Darrell grew up in Linden Grove, Minnesota. He attended Cook High School in Minnesota where he Lettered in Football, Basketball and Track and graduated there in 1959.
In September of 1962 he married Sharon K. Flank of Bear River, Minnesota she preceded him in death in 1976. Darrell and Sharon had 3 daughters together, Karleen, Beth Ann and Renee.

In 1977 he married Sherri Hawn and blended their families together. Darrell and Sheri worked together to raise their children. His 3 daughters and her 3 children, Hether,Mike and Monique. They later divorced.

On July 13, 1985, Darrell married Terri, they had been married 24 years at the time of his death. Darrell and Terri made their home in Arvada where they have many good friends and neighbors. They both enjoyed traveling and made several trips to Germany and Canada. Darrell enjoyed camping and together they took many wonderful trips with their 5th wheel to various parts of the United States as well as numerous weekends in the Colorado mountains.

Darrell worked in the grocery business all his life, first in his parents grocery store in Linden Grove and then after moving to Colorado for Safeway as a Meat Cutter. In 1984 he went to work for King Soopers in Commerce City and later transferred to the Arvada King Soopers.   In 2003 he retired from King Soopers. Darrell received many "Customer Service Awards" during his employment and in 2007 was granted an Honorary Life Membership in United Food and Commercial Workers by Local 7R of Denver, Colorado.

Darrell loved working in his shop building furniture and remolded the inside of of his home to appear as if it was from the 1800's. He loved football and rarely missed a Bronco game. He looked forward every year to hunting season when he could spend time with his buddies on the Western Slope. He loved getting together with neighbor's to make sausage twice a year and was always willing to lend a hand whenever needed. Darrell never met a stranger and there was nothing he liked better than "shooting the breeze".

His greatest joy was his girls, he was very proud of the way the lived their lives with integrity and grace. His greatest blessing were his grandchildren.

Darrell will be greatly missed by his family and friends who he generously and willingly gave his time, talents, friendship and love to.
