Funeral Of Thomas Dowling
Remains Will be Interred This Afternoon at Oak Hill Cemetery
The funeral of the late Thomas Dowling, who died Saturday evening at his home, 614 E Street Northwest will take place this afternoon at 2 o'clock. Services will be conducted at the family residence by Dr. L.B. Wilson of Foundry Methodist Episcopal Church, assisted by Rev. W.H. Chapman and Rev. J. Fred Heisse of Wesley Methodist Episcopal Chapel. The interment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery and the rites there will be under the direction of the Masonic fraternity. Mr. Dowling was a member of Potomac Lodge No. 1, Potomac Chapter No. 5 and Washington Commandery Knights Templar No. 1. The active pallbearers will be members of those organizations.

The honorary pallbearers will be chosen from the Directors of the Masonic Mutual Relief Association of which Mr. Dowling was Treasurer for many years. He was also a member of the Mystic Shrine and the Scottish Rite.

Mr. Dowling was in the sixty ninth year of his age. Though born in Baltimore, from early boyhood he had made his home in Washington. He was at the head of the auctioneering business of Thomas Dowling & Co., which under his management grew to be one of the most influential houses of its kind in the District. He was widely known for his appreciation of articles of vertu.

Mr. Dowling was in good health up to about two months ago, when he went into a decline from which he never recovered. He leaves a widow and a daughter, Miss Grace Dowling and four sons, Frank W., Dr. Thomas, Noble C. and Harry W. Dowling. The last named is in Seattle Washington. He has been informed of his father's death.
