Blue Mound, August 26-James Benjamin Clark, aged 89 years, died Monday evening at 8 o'clock at his home here of the infirmities of old age. He had been failing rapidly since early spring.
Mr. Clark was born in Tennessee May 10, 1836. He came to Illinois when a young man and enlisted in the Civil war from this state at the beginning of the war.
Soon after the return from the war, he was united in marriage to Miss Sarah E. Hall of this vicinity. To this union were born 11 children, 9 of whom survive with the aged widow. They are Charles of Assumption, Frank of Decatur, Eugene B. of Warrensburg, Chester of Stonington, Alfred at home; the daughters, Mrs. Agnes Crouch of Moweaqua, Mrs. Alice Johnson, Mrs. Anna Vermillion, Mrs. Lydia Harbarger, all of near Blue Mound. One daughter, Mrs. Jennie Cochran, died Feb 5, 1920 and one son, Bruce, died April 11, 1914.
Burial will be in Hall cemetery.
