GERMANTON Mr. Henry Russell Sands, 78, died Sunday, November 22, 2009 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice. He was born in Stokes county to William Zeke and Lemma Welch Sands. He was retired from Hanes, where he worked as a mechanic and he attended Stafford Community Chapel.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, John Timothy Sands and Randy Sands, one sister, Thelma Bullins, and two brothers, Raleigh Sands and William Zeke Sands, Jr.

He is survived by his wife, Lucille Lankford Sands, three children, Fred Russell (Jo Ann) Sands of Surf City, Judith Marie (Mark, Sr.) Brown of Yadkinville, and Alvin Thomas (Karen) Sands of Clemmons, one brother, Glenn Sands, six grandchildren, Rusty Sands, Melody Brown Chipley, and Mark Brown, Jr., Katie Sands, Julie Cottingham and Lynzi Sands, and six great grandchildren, Olivia, Jamie, Trystn, Logan, Micaiah and Bianca, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The 11:00am funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at Stafford Community Chapel with Pastor Daniel Robertson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8pm this evening, November 24, at Burroughs Funeral Home.
