James W. "Bill" Harrison was born September 2, 1926 in Jackson County and departed this life Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at his residence, being 83 years of age. He was the son of the late Charles & Eva Jane (Clemmons) Harrison.

Bill is survived by his wife of sixty-four years- Hazel (Jones) Harrison of Sand Gap and by seven children- James Charles Harrison of Sand Gap, Gary Lee Harrison of Sand Gap, Doris Ann Harris of Berea, Brenda Sue Clark of Berea, Arnold Edward Harrison of Sand Gap, Dwight Harrison of McKee & Karen Jennifer Clark of Berea. He is also survived by two brothers- Elmer Harrison of Sand Gap and Colin Harrison of Connersville, IN. Bill was blessed with thirteen grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and ten nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Bill was also preceded in death by four brothers- Arnold, Alvin, Carl & Eugene Harrison and by three nieces and nephews.

Bill was a member of the Sand Gap United Baptist Church. He was a 32 Degree Mason and had been a magistrate for four years. He was a retired county road supervisor, coal miner and he also worked in construction as a heavy equipment operator.

Bill will be sadly missed by family and friends.



Funeral service was held 1:00 PM Saturday, December 12, 2009 at Lakes Funeral Home with Bro. Eugene Gentry and Bro. Jason Moore officiating. Burial followed in the Jones Family Cemetery. Pallbearers were his grandsons- Scotty Ryan Harrison, James Brandon Harrison, Michal Lee Harrison, Mark Dewayne Harrison, Matthew Gary Harrison, Marshall Eugene Harrison, Paul Quenton Harrison, Stephen Forrest Harrison, Dustin William Harrison & Billy Joshua Rose and nephew- Ernest Alvin Harrison. Honorary pallbearers were Mark Combs, Lewis Sparks, Sherma Ann Harrison, Katie Marie Harris & Shawna Lynn Harrison. Lakes Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. www.lakesfuneralhomemckee.com
