Mr. West was born April 13, 1924, in Bland, the son of Newman West and wife Trecy M., nee McCallister.
He was educated in Franklin County.
Mr. West served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War.
He worked as a heavy equipment operator and truck driver and also owned his own business. In addition, he was a police officer in Pacific in the late 1960s and early 1970s.
Mr. West was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.
He volunteered at the Pacific Khoury League and the Robertsville Khoury League. He sponsored, managed and coached many teams.
Mr. West was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dovie F. West, nee Hearst; and other family members.
He is survived by one daughter, Vanessa L. Shuecraft and husband Ron, Pacific; one son, M. Leslie West Jr., Pacific; three grandsons, Justin C. J. West, Washington, Travis N. West, Linn, and Richard W. West, Jeffersonville, Ind.; one daughter-in-law, JoAnn West, Linn; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.
Graveside services with military honors were held Saturday, Dec. 22, at Brush Creek Cemetery, Gray Summit.
The graveside services were followed by a memorial service and dinner at the Travelodge Diamond Inn large banquet hall, Gray Summit.
Memorials to the family or in care of Travelodge Diamond Inn, Highway 100, Villa Ridge, Mo., are preferred.
The family was served by St. Louis Cremation, St. Louis.
