Henry Dickson, born March 21, 1834 at Birmingham, OH, died Sept. 27, 1921, wife: Mary Ann (Swearingen), mar.: June 16, 1860, 4 dau.: Ella Anspach, Mrs. Theo Kephart, Mrs. R. Varner, Mrs. A. Hagler, 1 son: Wm. H. Henry Dickson was 87 years old.
At 6 years of age, he moved with his parents to Martinsville, Illinois, living there until he became of age. When a young man, he came West, locating at Mineral Ridge, Boone County, Boone, Iowa, where he kept a store and lived for 9 years. Then he moved to Ida County and the present site of Ida Grove was then just a barren field. He was a part of the Civil War toward the end of it. He was 87 years, 6 months, and 4 days. Burial was in the Ida Grove Cemetery, Ida Grove, Iowa.
He moved from Silver Creek township to Ida Grove 32 years ago entering the real estate business in whch he was actively engaged until about 15 years ago when he retired.
He married June 16, 1860 to Mary A. Swearingen, who preceded him in death, Sept. 23, 1895. To this union were born 7 children, 2 dying in infancy and William H. at 28 years of ae. Four daughters, Ella Anspach of California; Mrs. A. W. Hagler, Presho, S.D.; Anna Kephart and Mrs. R. Varner of Ida Grove; and grandchildren survive him..

When he was 7 years old, he moved with his parents to Martinsville, Illinois, residing there until he became of age. At Mineral Ridge, Boone County Iowa, he kept a store. When a young man, he came west, locating at Boone, Iowa, where he lived for 9 years, then moved to Ida County. He located not far from the present site of Ida Grove which at that time was a barren field.
He moved from Silver Creek Township to Ida Grove 32 years ago, entering the real estate business in which he was actively engaged until about 15 years ago when he retired.
