Cynthia Ann "Cindy" Roper Allen, 53, our precious daughter, sister and aunt, passed away Saturday, December 12, 2009 at St. Francis, Downtown, following a brief illness.
She was the daughter of Houston and Bernice Miller Roper of Powdersville.
Cindy was an honor graduate of Wren High School and received an Associate Degree from Greenville Technical College, where she was on the dean's list. She retired from Greenville Technical College, Brashier Campus, after more than 30 years service in Administration.
Cindy loved her family, the beach and sitting on her deck on warm summer evenings. She was a lifelong member of Siloam Baptist Church, Powdersville.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by sisters, Linda Roper (Donnie) Thompson of Pelzer and Debra Roper McDowell of Powdersville; cherished nephews, Chad (Summer) McDowell of Piedmont, Corey (Miranda) McDowell of Powdersville, Michael Lockaby of Easley, Jeremy Lockaby of Norcross, Ga.; niece, Savannah (Rusty) Davis of Easley; great nephews and nieces, Will, Joey, Nicole, Chelsea, Morgan and Chase. She was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Perce "P.N." and Elizabeth Brown Miller; paternal grandparents, George and Essie Williams Roper; step-grandmother, Sue Coker Roper; as well as her beloved English Spaniel, Cassie.
Flowers are graciously accepted, or if desired, memorials may be made to Bethesda United Methodist Church, 516 Piedmont Road, Easley, SC 29642.
Visitation will be held Thursday, December 17, 2009 from 11:30 a.m. until 1:15 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown with the funeral service following at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel. Burial will be in Bethesda United Methodist Church Cemetery.
We would like to express our sincere appreciation and gratitude to the physicians, nurses and staff of St. Francis, Downtown, Critical Care Unit, for their heartfelt care and compassion shown to Cindy and our family during this difficult time.
