Castor, LA - Services for Mrs. Irene Dare, 90, will be held in the chapel of Rose-Neath Funeral Home Arcadia, on Saturday, November 27, 1999 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Floyd Pate and Rev. David Willoughby of Castor, LA officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery near Sailes, LA.
Mrs. Dare went to be with her Lord Monday, November 22, 1999 at Westwood Manor Nursing Home, Shreveport, LA after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was born July 12, 1909 to John Robert and Laura Elizabeth Caskey of Bienville, LA. She was a lifelong resident of Bienville Parish living most of her life near Castor on Kepler Lake. She will always be remembered by those who loved her as a loving mother, grandmother and friend. She will be long remembered for her faithful and devoted service to her Lord and her church as well as for her cheerful open hospitality and generous acts of kindness to others. Mrs. Dare was very concerned about the spiritual condition of her children and grandchildren. She spent a lot of time praying for those she loved, her favorite song being “Teach Me to Pray”. She was a very active member of First Baptist Church, Castor, LA where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday School for a number of years.
Mrs. Dare was preceded in death by her two husbands, Albert M. Myrick, and Harold P. Dare; parents, John and Laura Elizabeth Caskey; daughter Mary Myrick Saale; sons, Willie Pope Myrick, Roger M. Myrick, and step-son Myron M. Dare; 11 brothers, John William Caskey, Leroy, Otis, Doss, Willie, Floyd, Ira, Carl, John, Bertis, and Lawson Caskey; four sisters, Annie Mae Loe, Laura Lee Hennigan Crawford, Lena Bailiff, and Lillian Hennigan
