He was born June 11, 1942 in Rensselaer, Indiana to the late Herman and Anna Knapp Waibel. He married Mary Sue Owen on Aug. 19, 1967, in Richardson, Texas, and she survives.
Also surviving are his children, Lee Waibel (wife: Jodie) of Wolcott, Judy Mangold (husband: Mike) of Eureka, Ill, Neil Waibel (wife: Jill) of Cranford, N.J. and John Waibel of Greenfield; a sister, Mabel Buschman and a brother, Ralph Waibel (wife: Helen), both of Remington; grandchildren, Breanna and Logan Waibel, Michael, Erica, Ryan and Rebecca Mangold, Grace, Sophie, and Owen Waibel; 2 stepgrandsons, Dustin and Kyle Moore and 2 stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother Lloyd Waibel.
He was a Army veteran serving in the Vietnam War.
