Leonila (Nellie) Berumen - Pueblo Chieftain - November 19, 1997 - Leonila (Nellie) Berumen, born Oct. 8, 1933, in Toltec, Colo.
She is survived by husband of 46 years, Eliseo (Gerald) Berumen- son, Gerald Berumen, Rocky Ford- daughters, Elizabeth (Gerald) Harlan, Colorado Springs, Priscilla Berumen, Colorado Springs, Dolores Berumen, Pueblo, Phyllis Campos, Rocky Ford, Cynthia Trujillo, Pueblo, and Debra Berumen, Pueblo- sisters, Marie Mascarenas, Commerce City, and Anges Moya, Fort Collins.
She will be sadly missed by all her grandchildren and especially Lisa, Sandra, Matthew, Angela, Lawrence, Thomas, Gina, Joshua, Abraham, Rebecca, Jamie, Eric, Jeffrey, Andrew, David, Sylvester and Vincent- great-granddaughters, Shianne and Tyler.
She was preceded in death by parents, Silverio and Maclovia Castro- brothers, Eloy and Felix Castro- sisters, Eva Meehan, Dora Torres, Florence Florez, Bernice Gomez and Dell Apodoca- grandsons, Andrew Eloy Berumen, Adam William and William Gerald Campos.
She made her home of 37 years in Rocky Ford. She enjoyed camping, fishing, dancing, arts and crafts, music, picking pinion nuts, playing golf, yard sales, collecting jewelry, gambling in Cripple Creek and especially enjoyed the Broncos. She worked for many years as a nurse at AVRMC and at the Otero County Health Department in Rocky Ford.
All services will be held at St. Peter Catholic Church. Rosary will be Wednesday at 6 p.m. Mass will be Thursday at 10 a.m. Interment at Hillcrest Cemetery, all in Rocky Ford, Colo.
