Funeral for Shirley Jean Whitewolf Baras, 64, Lawton, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Mount Scott Comanche United Methodist Church with June Sovo officiating.
An all-night wake/prayer service will start at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
She died Sunday, Dec. 6, 2009, in Lawton.
Burial will be in Mount Scott KCA Cemetery under direction of Comanche Nation Funeral Home.
She was born Sept. 30, 1945, in Lawton, to Thelma P. Edge Whitewolf and Howard Winfred Whitewolf. She was a member of the Esa Rosa Descendants Club, Comanche Nation and a member of the Mount Scott Comanche United Methodist Church. She enjoyed attending and working at the powwows, loved reading, attending sports events, and organized all family meals and get-togethers.
Survivors include two sons: Kenneth Capes, Apache; and Drevon Kaywaykla, of the home; her mother, Thelma P. Edge Whitewolf, of the home; a sister, Winifred Pope, Lawton; two brothers and a sister-in-law: Frank Whitewolf, Lawton; and Gordon Ray and Regina Whitewolf; Anadarko; special grandson, Nicholas Howard Capes, Apache; and many nephews, nieces and close friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Howard Winfred Whitewolf; three aunts: Bernice Johnson, Peggy Reed and Dorothy Wahkinney; two uncles: Edwin Whitewolf and Gordon Whitewolf; grandparents: Ed Whitewolf and Mary Taddykee Whitewolf, and Frank Edge and Minnie Williams Edge.
