Ruth Alford, 87, died at the Wallowa County [OR] Nursing Home Thursday.
She was born in Rimby, Mo., on Jan. 19, 1899 to William Landon and Jennie Louellen Carter.
She married George Leonard Alford on April 9, 1917, in Rogers, N.M. The couple moved to Wallowa County from Oklahoma 61 years ago. She was homemaker and a member of the Silver Lake Rebekah Lodge. Her husband died on Jan. 24, 1979.
Mrs. Alford is survived by sons, Merle and George of Joseph; Clebert of Portland, Glen of Baker; daughter, Joan Tippet of Asotin, Wash.; sisters, Eula Winfrey of Milton-Freewater, Cuba Mathews of Union Town, Wash., and DeMoise
White of Enterprise; 17 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bollman Chapel in Enterprise, with the Rev. Charles Chase officiating.
Interment will follow in the Enterprise Cemetery.
Memorials may be sent to the charity of one's choice or made to the Wallowa County Nursing Home or the United Methodist Church in care of Bollman Funeral Home, Main at West Third, Enterprise, Or., 97828.
