Madeline A. 'Mal' Smith, 92, Garvey Manor, Hollidaysburg, formerly of Altoona, died Sat., Dec. 5, 2009 at Bon Secours Hospital, Altoona. She was born in Altoona to Earl J. & Elizabeth E. (Kelly) Plunket. She married Robert Z. Smith on Feb. 22, 1941, in Altoona and he died April 20, 1993. Survived by sons: Donald G. Smith & wife, Jeanne, Sunset Beach, NC, and David F. Smith & wife, Josie, Altoona; daughter, Nancy Quarry & husband, Phil, Hollidaysburg; 6 grandchildren: Patrick Smith, Kelly Smith Tilly, Ronald Smith, Julie Hinnenkamp, Donald Smith and Ginnie Quarry; 9 gr. grandchildren: Luke and Eli Tilly, Laura Hammel, Joe Smith, Aidan and Ian Hinnenkamp, Marcus Gibson, and Noah and Aaron Smith; and brother, Bennie R. Plunket & wife, Patty, Dysart. Pre-deceased by brothers: Ralph, Donald and Leo Plunket. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. She was a 1936 graduate of Altoona High School and a member of the first class at Keith Junior High School. Stevens Mortuary, Altoona. Committal, Calvary Cemetery.
