SHUMATE, MRS. DORIS MAE - age 88, of Maynardville, went home to be with her Savior at 1:05 p.m. Monday, May 17, 1999. She was the oldest living member of Hickory Valley Baptist Church. Preceded in death by a loving husband, Hermon Shumate and son, Larry Shumate. Survivors: daughters and son-in-law, Joan Gothard and Mary and Bob West; sons and daughters-in-law, Frank and Ruby Shumate, Fred and Carolyn Shumate, Ed and Brenda Shumate, Herbert and Mona Shumate; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two much loved sisters and brother-in-law, Neal Hendrix and Bennie and Glenn Campbell. Funeral services 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Cooke Mortuary Chapel, Rev. Robert West and Rev. Johnny Beeler officiating with music by Rev. Richard and Linda Nicely. Interment 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Yadon Cemetery. Pallbearers: Bryan Shumate, Rodney Ratliff, Joe Vandergriff, Mike Galloway, Jimmy Shumate and Johnny Shumate. Honorary Pallbearers: Mark West, Charlie Varner, Howard Hendrix, F.T. Munsey and Dale Haynes. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Cooke Mortuary, Maynardville
