Mandy was the daughter of Abraham Hillsberry and Elizabeth Brake. According to the pension application, she was born in 1883. She was not with her parents on the 1880 census and could not have been born in 1879 per her marker. She was about 13 when she married Howard Arterberry in 1896.

"Funeral services for Mrs. Mandy Arterberry, 67, Anadarko, R2, Oklahoma, who died Friday afternoon March 1, 1946, at a local hospital were held at 10:30 am Saturday, March 2, 1946 in the Chapel of Chickasha Funeral Home, with Waldo Proffitt conducting the services.
Mrs. Arterberry had been a resident of Chickasha & Grady County since 1931 and was formerly from Byars. She was a member of the Church of Christ. She had been in failing health for the past 4 months. Interment will be at 10 am today at the Fairlawn Cem., in Snyder. Mr & Mrs Henry Paddock, Roy Finley, & Mrs E. H. Nikkel with Mrs Freida Young at the organ, sang "On Jordan's Stormy Banks", "Nobody Knows" & Have Thine Own Way".
Survivors include her husband, Howard, 7 sons, George W. & Bennie of Snyder, Wylie of Paul's Valley Ted, Paul, J. D., & Howard Jr of Chickasha, 5 daughters, Mrs. Elmer Gunter of Loveland, Tex., Mrs. Mary Wheelock of Snyder, Mrs Walter Lay of Jol, N.M., Mrs Viola Mills of Chickasha, & a brother, Jim Hillsberry of Lebanon, Okla."

Note: Amanda's death certificate lists her b. 3-13-1879 She d. 3-1-1946 at Chickasha by June Lowe.
