I show that James was married about 1870 to Elizabeth "Betty" LUNSFORD b. 19 Mar 1851 GA, d. 28 Jan 1944 TX, bd. Sardis Cementery, Shelbyville, Shelby Co., TX.
James & Betty were the great grandparents of my recently desceased cousin, Oneta BAGGETT.
Oneta was descended from Urial Roy "Pete" BAGGETT b. 28 Dec 1899 Timpson, Panola Co., TX, d. 4 Jun 1944 Oil Center, Lea Co., NM, bd. Burkburnett Cemetery, Burkburnett, Wichita Co., TX
Arvie Elizabeth BEAIRD b. 23 Jul 1903 Quannah, Hardeman Co., TX, d. 8 Jul 1970, bd. Burkburnett Cemetery, Burkburnett, Wichita Co., TX.

This is for those wondering how the family travelled back in 1870 from Chattahoochee and Stewart Counties, GA:
Articles from the Newspapers: Columbus, Georgia of Thursday, December 01,1870
and the Georgia Weekly Telegraph and Journal and Messenger, Tuesday, December 06, 1870 [A Crowd of Georgians For Texas]
There were over 100 persons that left for Texas, not by horse and buggy. They brought their wagons, mules, and household effects {what-ever they thought they might need later} on Tuesday, November 29, 1870 to the Western Railroad to travel by train. They didn't get to leave til December 1st due to the loading and a wedding.
The one left in command was Mr. Simon Dean and this is the ones that left Chattahoochee and Stewart counties of Georgia:
Simon Dean and family; Mrs. Mary Dean and family; Richard Dent and family; Charles Rogers and family; Knox Clark and family; Pet. Parkman; Pack Webb and family; Carter J. Willis and family; Ephraim Key and family; A. R. Lunsford and family; Mrs. Betty Lunsford and family; Mr. A. D. Hammock; and a few others that names weren't mentioned or couldn't get.
Due to the reason of not getting off on time November 30, 1870 was due to all the loading of items and a certain marriage, that the couple spent the rest of their life in Texas raising their children. This couple was Mr. James Averick 'Jim' Baggett and Miss Elizabeth 'Bitsy' Lunsford according to the articles.

My GGGgrandfather (Thomas Choice Baggett, Sr) was born in South Carolina, and in the 1850 Mississippi census,when he was 70 yrs old. This goes to show that he would have been a cousin to James Averick Baggett's ancestors, also born in North Carolina and where it was likely that all Baggett's in the USA had originally came from (after immigration from England).
Nicholas Baggett, II (my 6th great grandfather) came to the USA in 1715 from England. He had a handwritten will in 1753, Bertie County, North Carolina.
Thomas Choice Baggett, Sr (my 3d great grandfather) & three of his sons and their wives, had lived in southern Mississippi near what is now I-10. After their father died, his three sons (Andrew B. Baggett, Milton Brown Baggett, & Joshua B. Baggett) came to southwest Louisiana where they lived and died (including my GGgrandfather Joshua).
I believe that it is unique that we are distant relatives, and that we can track our heritage back to the same man in 1715. I have the Hope that those who come after me will someday want to know of the history that has been placed here ... Charles T. Baggett
