Cedar Valley Daily Times, Thursday, 5/15/1986-Helen Maynard Dowler, age 78, was DOA at Virginia Gay Hospital Wed. morning, May 14, 1986, after being transferred by ambulance from her residence.
She was born on June 24, 1907 at Shellsburg, IA, a daughter of Spencer and Lura Robbins Maynard. On May 31, 1935, she married Vernon Glenn Dowler at Des Moines, IA. Mr. Dowler preceded his wife in death on Oct. 24, 1966.
Mrs. Dowler was a member of the Geo. G. Luckey Post No 57 American Legion Auxiliary in Vinton.
She is survived by three nephew, Bill Maynard of Ft. Atkinson, WI, Max Maynard of Vinton and Owen Maynard of Shellsburg.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, William "Mike" Maynard; and one sister, Lola A. Maynard Newton.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 16, at the Phillips Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David A. Nash officiating. Interment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Vinton.
