h/o Norma J. CochranAlfred Vernon Cochran, of Rolla, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at his home on Sunday, September 25, 2016 at the age of 87.
He was born in Vichy, MO on July 16, 1929 to the late John B. Cochran and Louella (Hayes) Cochran.
On December 14, 1949 he married Norma J. Roberts. Mrs. Cochran preceded him in death on February 3, 2014.
Alfred was a kind and compassionate man who was loved dearly by his family and friends. He retired from Holsum Bakery in Rolla with 33 years of service. Among Mr. Cochran's interests were being an avid hunter and fisherman and spending precious time with his children and numerous grandchildren. He was also a big country music fan.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three sisters, two brothers, one grandson and one granddaughter.
He will be greatly missed by his surviving family which include five children, Alfred Dale Cochran and wife Barbara, of St. Peters, MO, Kenneth D. Cochran and wife Evelyn, of Rolla, Catherine D. Stanley and husband Kenneth, of Niceville, FL, Brenda F. Melton and husband Jason, of Rolla and Debra Murphy, also of Rolla; one brother, Elmer Cochran, of St. James, MO; thirteen grandchildren, Kimberly Marinaro and husband Terry, Tonya Bramblett and husband Jason, Tina Cochran, David Cochran, Jonathan Cochran and wife Betty, Christopher Stanley, Travis Stanley and wife Marti, Justin Clancy and wife Leslie, Christina Hopping and husband Gerald, Stormy Messer and husband Clayton, Joshua Clancy, Cody Murphy and wife Brenda, and Cole Murphy and wife Tiffany. Mr. Cochran is also survived and blessed with twenty great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other extended family members and dear friends.
A funeral service for Alfred Cochran will be held at 2 pm Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at the Null & Son Funeral Home in Rolla. Interment will follow in Ozark Hills Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Rolla. A visitation for family and friends will be held prior to the service beginning at 1 pm at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Heart Association .
