Willie Browne lived all his life on the land Purchased by his Father in 1884. Upon his death he left the land to the City of Jacksonville and it has been incorporated into the Theodore Roosevelt Preserve located off Ft. Caroline Rd.

Browne - Funeral services for William henry Brown III, 80, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Chapel of Robert M. Naugle Mortuary, The Rev. Frank Dearing officiating. Pallbearers will be, active, Fulton McCormick, John Rowan, Marcus Jones, Harry E. Queen Jr., Ernest Stubbs, Stephen Guthrie; honorary, Hon. Charles E. Bennett, Nathan G. Johnson, Harry E. Queen Sr., Dr. J. H. St. John, Dr. George R. Cooley, Capt. Stanley Lee, Dr. Robert Spiro, Fred B. Noble, Charles A. Powers Jr., James Russell, P. A. Raleigh, Harry Jensen, Judge Roger A, Waybright, Dan Brown and J. V. Caldwell. Interment in the family plot of the private cemetery on Mount Pleasant Rd. Mr. Browne, of 13335 Mount Pleasant Rd, died Monday. A native and lifelong resident of Jacksonville, he lived on a 361 acres woodland preserve, which donated to the Nature Conservancy, a non-profit organization. Memorial donations may be made to the Nature Conservancy, 1800 N. Kent St., Suite 800, Arlington, VA 22209.
