OLIVE HILL - Ruby Opal Blevins Evans Black, age 89, of Candy Cane Drive, Olive Hill, Kentucky, passed away Monday evening, December 1, 2008, at her residence.

She was born October 21, 1919, in Carter County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late John William and Nancy Wilson Blevins.

Opal was a loving mother and grandmother, a devoted Christian and of the Church of God faith. She worked for Cowdens Sewing Factory and was a homemaker.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband of fifteen years, Emerson Evans; second husband of thirty-two years, Virgil D. Black; son, James David Evans; four brothers, Arthur Blevins, Estill Blevins, Arnold Blevins and Orville Blevins; two sisters, Rosa Mowery and Ada Sturgill; son-in-law, Donald Jessie.

She is survived by seven daughters and sons-in-law,Wilma Jessie, Eva Lou and J.R. Back of Olive Hill, Kentucky, Glenna and Tom Jenkins of Beloit, Ohio, Byrthald and Charles Todd of Springdale, Ohio, Valeria Stanley of Kahuku, Hawaii, Angela Rutan of Mechanisburg, Ohio and Pamela K. And Ray Mutura of Gallipolis, Ohio; twenty-seven grandchildren, forty great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren; She also leaves several nieces, nephews, other family members and friends who will sadly mourn her passing.

Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 5, 2008, at the Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, Kentucky, with Brother Charlie Riggs and Brother Lewis Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the Garvin Ridge Cemetery in Olive Hill, Kentucky. Terry Jessie, Tim Jessie, Johnny Rose, Brent Back, Jason Ingles and Justin Ingles will serve as pallbearers.
